Salaams and Howdy!

My name is Amanda Quraishi.  I am a web media professional, writer and activist from Austin, Texas. I’m also a Muslim.

I converted to Islam in 1999 and during the past 12 years I’ve received one too many emails about the nefarious collective plot of the Muslims of planet earth, and read far too many slanderous comments about Islam on various news blogs.  Luckily I’m not the type of person to be easily offended.  As I engaged with people online and off, I realized that most individuals were actually concerned, curious and really just want the straight dope about Islam and Muslims.

So rather than argue with people who simply want to believe that Muslims are all violent, misogynistic, religious lunatics I thought the best thing to do would be to communicate genuinely with with moderate, intelligent folks who really want to get to know more about us.  That’s when I came up with the idea of a smartphone app that serves up a daily fact about Muslims and Islam in an engaging and entertaining way.

 

WHAT IT IS

365muslim is an app that provides users with a new fact or quote about Muslims and Islam each day for one year. It includes facts about famous Muslims, quotes from the Qur’an and Hadith, and explanations of Muslim words, traditions and beliefs.

All of the 365 facts included in this app are easy to verify from multiple sources, yet many of them are unknown to the average non-Muslim who is certain to find them fascinating and educational.

After downloading and using 365muslim, you will be able to amaze your friend(s), impress your date(s) and spout off all kinds of interesting facts about this “great, mysterious religion from the East” looking like a huge smartypants in the process!

After using 365muslim, you may even be able to rest easy at night, knowing that that Muslim family who lives on your block isn’t building WMDs or planning to subjugate you into wearing burkas and stone your adulterous relatives.

WHAT IT IS NOT

365muslim is not intended as a tool for proselytizing, nor is it a product of formal Islamic scholarship.  You will not be converted, indoctrinated, hypnotized, browbeat, jihad-ed, or added to an FBI watch list by downloading and using this app.
